I always wanted to be someone useful to society. I am trying to do it by studying as hard as I can but it is never enough. Whatever I do, there remains something that I intended to do better. It is maddening but it gives me courage to finish what I’ve started and fulfill my ambition of becoming a successful computer scientist and bioinformatics person.

I believe that I will find that small measure of peace someday, may be by achieving some actual progress in the field and saving some lives. It is not to be forgotten that Edward Jenner ,inventor of smallpox vaccination, saved more lives than any man lived.

Learning Perl

During my internship in Bilkent Cyberpark, I was encouraged to use Perl as a primary language in a project and I was not familiar with it before. So I decided to learn it as quickly as possible and I was shocked how hard it is to learn a different language from scratch in one week. I was surprised how different the syntax of Perl from Java or C++ (these are the languages that we were thought). But yet I was determined to work with it and I installed some IDE’s but IDE’s were harder to use than I thought.

Active Perl seems to be the best one though but still I expected more from the language. As a determined person in Bioinformatics I believe there should be another language using Java’s syntax and Perl’s libraries.
